American Toby Jug Museum 

Jane Seymour tiny character jug modeled by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1996 limited edition of 2,500 commissioned by Lawleys By Post. Jane Seymour (1500-1537), the third wife of Henry VIII, came from a family of ancient and respectable lineage. Jane impressed everyone at Court with her meekness and gentleness. She had first come to court as a lady-in-waiting to Catharine of Aragon, Henry VIII's first wife. But soon enough Anne Boleyn was queen and Jane attended her. Henry's interest in Jane was a strong factor in the institution of trial proceedings against Anne Boleyn. Betrothed to Henry in May, 1536, only a fortnight after Anne's execution, Jane was the fortunate Queen to bear a son and so secure the English throne, the future Edward VI. Jane has been kindly treated by posterity and her relationship with Henry regarded as his most successful. Buried at Windsor, Jane Seymour is the only one of Henry's wives to share his tomb. A signpost with the initials JS form the handle of the jug.
