James Dean character jug prototype version 1 - Royal Doulton 1989

James Dean prototype character jug version 1 designed by Eric Griffiths and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in 1989. James Byron Dean (1931-1955) was an American actor. In a career spanning five years, he is regarded as a cultural icon of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement, as expressed in the title of his most celebrated film, "Rebel Without a Cause" (1955), in which he starred as troubled teenager Jim Stark as depicted in this jug. The other two roles that defined his stardom were loner Cal Trask in "East of Eden" (1955) and surly ranch hand Jett Rink in "Giant" (1956) as depicted in this jug. The handle of the jug is a filmstrip with the title "Giant" on it.
