James character jug produced by Longton New Art Pottery of Longton, England, circa 1955 using its Kelsboro Ware tradename. James is a well educated young man at the beginning of his career. He recently married Nellie and the couple have rented a flat in central London. They are out for a walk on a brisk Sunday afternoon. A cane forms the handle of the jug. The James character jug is a pair with the Nellie character jug.
