Jack of Hearts toby jug designed by Veronica Wheatland and produced by H. J. Wood of Burslem, England, circa 1965. The Jack of Hearts is a court card that is deeply associated with love. The Jack of Hearts card has a rich and intriguing history that dates back centuries. In the earliest known playing cards, the Jack of Hearts was depicted as a young, clean-shaven man, sometimes referred to as a "knave." The card was often associated with bravery and loyalty, as well as youthful exuberance and passion.
Mirroring the Knight of Cups in tarot, which represents a knight in shining armor, the Jack of Hearts connotes a young man who is head over heels for someone The card has an innocence to it, suggesting puppy love.
