Hookah Toby jug - Shirley Bhatnagar circa 2020

Hookah Toby jug produced by Shirley Bhatnagar of Delhi, India, circa 2020. The Hookah Toby is an Ordinary Toby jug featuring a common man of the time wearing 18th century clothing and a tricorn hat. However, the Hookah Toby is holding and smoking from a hookah pipe instead of a pitcher of ale. A hookah is a single- or multi-stemmed instrument for heating or vaporizing and then smoking either tobacco, flavored tobacco, or sometimes cannabis, hashish and opium. The smoke is passed through a water basin, often glass-based, before inhalation. Bhatnagar's original drawing is also shown.
