Hod Carrier toby jug - England circa 1988

Hod Carrier 3/4 body toby jug designed by Alan Bening and produced in England circa 1988. A Hod Carrier is a laborer employed in carrying supplies to bricklayers, stonemasons, cement finishers, or plasterers on the job. A brick hod is a three-sided box for carrying bricks or other building materials, often mortar. It bears a long handle and is carried over the shoulder. A hod is usually long enough to accept four bricks on their side. The Hod Carrier toby jug was produced as a promotional item for JA Elliott, a Stortford, England, based construction company.
