Hayseed character jug produced by Shorter & Son of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1965. A hayseed is a person from the country, especially a simple, unsophisticated one. One well known quote says: "notices of agricultural sales are an irresistible lure for hicks and hayseeds." A pipe forms the handle of the jug.
