Happy John toby jug tiny - Royal Doulton circa 1994

Happy John tiny toby jug designed by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1994 limited edition of 2,500 commissioned by Lawleys By Post. Happy John is the direct descendent of the Ordinary Toby, the original toby jug developed by some unknown eighteenth century potter. This jovial toper, with a tankard in one hand and a jug of stingo on his knee, is most reminiscent of Ralph Wood's Ordinary Toby model No. 51, circa 1785.
