Guardsman character jug produced in Japan for National Potteries of Cleveland, Ohio, circa 1950 using its Napcoware tradename. A guardsman is a member of a military or policing body charged with apprehending and sequestering criminals and other dangerous people. The top of this guardsman's pike forms the handle of the jug.
