Fred Fly The Fisherman toby jug - Royal Doulton 1986 - 1991

Fred Fly The Fisherman 3/4 body toby jug designed by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, from 1986 to 1991. Fred Fly is a keen fisherman. He has just caught the large old trout that has eluded all his skills and carefully crafted flies for several years. The trout stream runs through the grounds of Fred's country home, Brockley Hall, set in the woodlands and flower meadows near the Doultonville coast. Fred's parent are somewhat eccentric; his father being an Antarctic explorer whose ship was trapped in the ice for a whole year, and his mother an opera singer of note, famous for her Wagnerian roles and her passionate, strong emotions. At Brockley Hall there is a private zoo collected by the explorer from which animals occasionally escape into the surrounding moorlands and frighten the weekend ramblers. This is one of twenty-five Doultonville toby jugs.
