Flower Seller toby jug in a large size produced by Shorter & Son of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1950. A flower seller, normally a woman, traditionally sells flowers on the street. Often the flowers are carried in a basket, for example. Quite common in Victorian London, the profession has slowly died out. The subject matter has been a favorite of artists. This is the largest of four known sizes. The medium size Flower Seller toby jug stands 7" tall, the small size 5 1/4" tall.
