Fisherman charcter jug - Dave Grossman Designs 1979

Fisherman character jug produced in Japan by Dave Grossman Designs of St. Louis, Missouri, in 1979. A fisher, or fisherman, is someone who captures fish and other animals from a body of water or gathers shellfish. Worldwide, there are about 38 million commercial and subsistence fishers and fish farmers. Fishermen may be professional or recreational. Fishing has existed as a means of obtaining food since the Mesolithic period. This fisherman appeared in the Norman Rockwell cover art on the August 4, 1929, issue of the "Saturday Evening Post" magazine. A bamboo fishing pole forms the handle of the jug.
