Father Christmas majolica toby jug wearing a green and yellow robe produced by Thomas Forester & Sons of Longton, England, circa 1910. Father Christmas is the traditional English name for the personification of Christmas. Although now known as a Christmas gift-bringer, and typically considered to be synonymous with Santa Claus, he was originally part of a much older and unrelated English folkloric tradition. This Father Christmas is carrying a sack of toys over his right shoulder and various other toys attached to his robe and belt. A rope forms the handle of this jug. This is a half and half majolica colorway with green for the top half and yellow for the bottom. Other colorways are known.
