Evita face pot Guild - Kevin Francis 2002

Evita face pot in a purple colorway produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, in a 2002 limited edition of 64 Guild issue. Maria Eva Duarte de Peron (1919-1952), better known as just Eva Peron or by the nickname Evita, was an Argentine politician, activist, actress, and philanthropist who served as First Lady of Argentina from June 1946 until her death in July 1952, as the wife of Argentine President Juan Domingo Peron (1895-1974). "Evita" the 1976 musical concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Peron. The story follows Evita's early life, rise to power, charity work, and death. The musical played in London's West End in 1978, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical, and on Broadway a year later, where it was the first British musical to receive the Tony Award for Best Musical. Evita is urging the people to "Don't cry for me". "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" is a song from the album and musical Evita. The song appears several times in the musical, initially as the spirit of the dead Eva exhorting the people of Argentina not to mourn her, during Eva's speech from the balcony of the Casa Rosada, and during her final broadcast.
