Elephant toby jug - Vallauris circa 1900

Elephant majolica toby jug produced by Vallauris of Vallauris, France, circa 1900. This elephant is trumpeting with glee, announcing his return to the herd after a foraging trip. A tree branch forms the handle of the jug. This whimsical design was done by Delphin Massier and the jug was produced in two sizes, this being the larger, and various colorways.
