Ebenezer Scrooge toby jug - Kevin Francis Ceramics circa 2002

Ebenezer Scrooge toby jug modeled by Andy Moss and produced by Peggy Davies Ceramics for Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, as the Guild Toby Jug in 2002. Scrooge is the elderly man with a heart of stone from Dickens' novel "A Christmas Carol". Probably Charles Dickens' best known character, the miserly Scrooge, with his familiar cry of "Bah, Humbug!", is visited by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley, who sends three more spirits, or ghosts of Christmas, in hopes of reforming Scrooge's heartless and penny-pinching ways. Scrooge will not let his downtrodden partner leave work to return to his family for the Christmas holiday. After visits by the three ghosts on Christmas Eve, Scrooge finds compassion in his heart and changes his ways.
