Dutch Boy toby jug produced in Czechoslovakia for Ebeling and Reuss of Devon, Pennsylvania, circa 1935 using its Erphila tradename. A Dutch Boy refers to the Little Dutch Boy character, a boy who plugs a dike with his finger, featured in the novel "Hans Brinker", or "The Silver Skates" by Mary Mapes Dodge. He is characterized as a boy dressed in traditional Dutch clothing and wooden shoes with a type of bob haircut featuring straight bangs and hair cut horizontally above the neck.
