Duke of Wellington toby jug - Bairstow Manor Pottery 2015

Duke of Wellington toby jug produced by Bairstow Manor Pottery of Hanley, England, in a 2015 limited edition of 200. Arthur Wellesley (1769-1852) was the first Duke of Wellington. He was an Anglo-Irish soldier and Tory statesman who was one of the leading military and political figures of 19th-century Britain serving twice as prime minister of the United Kingdom. He is among the commanders who won and ended the Napoleonic Wars when the coalition defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. This toby jug commemorates the Bicentenary of the Battle of Waterloo. It depicts Wellington sitting on a cannon with a sword in his right hand. Napoleon standing on a keg forms the handle of the jug. Ray Noble modeled this toby jug.
