Dr. Pulse The Physician toby jug - Royal Doulton 1985 - 1991

Dr. Pulse The Physician 3/4 body toby jug designed by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, from 1985 to 1991. Doctor Septimus Pulse, now happily retired, was a doctor who believed things should be done in the traditional manner. Smartly dressed and wearing a bowtie, he is from the old school of practitioners, having been privately educated and a graduate of Guy's Hospital Medical School in London. A stickler for discipline, he was the autocratic master of the hospital wards and the terror of the medical students under his charge. He lives in a large house with extensive grounds near the Victoria Park with Emily, his portly wife, her Pekinese dogs and Egyptian cats. Dr. Pulse spends long hours in his conservatory as a devoted grower of rare orchids, on which he is an authority. This is one of twenty-five Doultonville toby jugs.
