Doctor Who #2 character jug produced by Aidee International of Devon, England, in a 1973 limited edition of 750. "Doctor Who" is a British science fiction television series broadcast by the BBC since 1963. The series depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called the Doctor, an extraterrestrial being who appears to be human and explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. With various companions, the Doctor combats foes, works to save civilizations, and helps people in need. Played by Patrick Troughton, Doctor Who #2 was an outwardly scruffy, light hearted and bumbling tramp, a portrayal that was nicknamed the Cosmic Hobo. He hid a more firm and slightly darker side that he would often use to manipulate his enemies and allies for the greater good.
