Diana, Princess of Wales face pot blue trial colorway - Kevin Francis 2002

Diana, Princess of Wales face pot produced in a blue dress trial colorway by Kevin Francis Ceramics of Stoke-on-Trent, England, in 2002. Diana, Princess of Wales, born Diana Frances Spencer (1961-1997), was a member of the British royal family. She was the first wife of King Charles III (then Prince of Wales) and mother of Princes William and Harry. Her activism and glamour made her an international icon and earned her enduring popularity as well as almost unprecedented public scrutiny. Diana's marriage to Charles suffered due to their incompatibility and extramarital affairs. They separated in 1992, soon after the breakdown of their relationship became public knowledge, and they divorced in 1996. Her legacy has had a deep impact on the royal family and British society. The face pot quote, "Your candle's burned out long before your legend ever did.", is a poignant lyric from Elton John's 1997 tribute version of his hit "Candle in the Wind" played only once at her funeral.
