Devil toby jug - Goebel circa 1975

Devil toby jug produced by W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik of Bavaria, Germany, circa 1975. The devil is the personification of evil as it is conceived in various cultures and religious traditions. He is seen as the objectification of a hostile and destructive force. Jeffrey Burton Russell states that the different conceptions of the devil can be summed up as a principle of evil independent from God, an aspect of God, a created being turning evil (such as a fallen angel), and a symbol of human evil. The devil's tail curls up to form the handle of the jug.
