Dachshund toby jug lemonade brown - Royal Bayreuth circa 1920

Dachshund lemonade pitcher toby jug in a brown colorway produced by Royal Tettau Porcelain Factory of Bavaria, Germany, circa 1920 using its Royal Bayreuth tradename. The dachshund, also known as the wiener dog, badger dog, and sausage dog, is a short-legged, long-bodied, hound-type dog breed. The dog may be smooth-haired, wire-haired, or long-haired, and comes in a variety of colors. The standard-sized dachshund was developed to scent, chase, and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals. The miniature dachshund was bred to hunt small animals such as rabbits. The dachshund's tail forms the handle of the jug. This is a set of the four known sizes of the Dachshund pitchers with the water pitcher standing 6 1/4" tall, the milk pitcher 5 1/4" and the creamer 4 1/4"
