Collier Barrel toby jug by Thomas Hollins circa 1780. A Collier is a traditional coal miner. The Collier Toby is an Ordinary Toby jug with blackened face and hands which were the result of working in the mines all day. This example has a small barrel or firkin resting between his legs.
