Christopher Columbus teapot - Fitz and Floyd 1992

Christopher Columbus teapot produced in Taiwan by Fitz and Floyd of Medford, Oregon, in a 1992 limited edition of 7,500 as part of its Figures From History Collectors Series. Christopher Columbus (1451 - 1506) was an Italian explorer and navigator who completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean sponsored by the Catholic Monarchs of Spain, opening the way for the widespread European exploration and colonization of the Americas. His expeditions were the first known European contact with the Caribbean, Central America and South America. On August 3, 1492, Columbus started a voyage across the Atlantic Ocean with a crew of ninety men and three ships, the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. An anchor with attached rope forms the handle of the teapot and his flagship, the Santa Maria, forms the spout.
