Chinaman toby jug - Orchies circa 1905

Chinaman 3/4-body majolica toby jug produced by Orchies of Orchies, France, circa 1905. This mysterious Chinaman is wearing a long robe with strange symbols on it. Perhaps he tells fortunes based on the stars. This jug is also known in many colorways. The Chinaman's long braided hair forms the handle of this jug. Orchies model numbers are a combination of letters and numbers. The letters are an abbreviation for the name of the jug and the number is the size of the jug. Colorway photos are from the collection of Jean-Pierre Ducasse.
