Chamois majolica character jug produced by Sarreguemines of Lorraine, France, circa 1910, model number 4023. The chamois is a species of goat-antelope native to mountains in Europe including the Pyrenees, the Alps, the Apennines, the Dinarides, the Carpathian Mountains, and the Caucasus. The chamois has also been introduced to the South Island of New Zealand. This is a rare jug.
