Catherine Parr character jug tiny - Royal Doulton 1996

Catherine Parr tiny character jug modeled by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in a 1996 limited edition of 2,500 commissioned by Lawleys By Post. Catherine Parr (1512-1548) was a widow and a mature woman of thirty-one when she became Henry VIII's sixth and final wife in 1543. The King was by now sick and aging and Catherine was as much a nurse to him as a wife. Sensitive and gentle, this pious Queen was also a scholar of Latin, Greek and French and was much admired at Court for her accomplishments and learning. Catherine also succeeded in bringing harmony to the Royal family. Despite her enemies, Catherine Parr retained her husband's affection and succeeded in outliving one of the most infamous kings in history. After Henry's death in 1547 she married Baron Seymour of Sudeley, then died during childbirth the following year. A signpost with the initials CP form the handle of the jug.
