Cat toby jug - Smithsonian Institute circa 1925

Cat toby jug produced by The Smithsonian Institute of Washington D. C. circa 1925. This cat toby jug was designed as a replica of the Minton cat toby jug designed by Paul Comolera and produced circa 1895 in two sizes and multiple colorways. One source claims that Comolera's "own loved Persian cat was the inspiration for the majolica cat pitcher." The cat's tail curls up to form the handle of the jug.
