Cap'n Patch character jug - Sterling Pottery circa 1950

Cap'n Patch character jug produced by Sterling Pottery of Fenton, England, circa 1950 being purchased by Ridgway in 1950. Captain Patch is a nefarious pirate who plunders throughout the Caribbean. Early in his pirating career he lost an eye in a heated battle when attacking a Spanish galleon. He wears his eyepatch proudly as a symbol of his ruthlessness. The Captain's long braided pony tail forms the handle of the jug. This is the largest of four known sizes with the smaller jugs standing 3 1/2", 2 3/4" and 1 3/4" tall.
