Bulldog majolica umbrella stand produced by Wasmuel of Wasmuel, Belgium, circa 1900.
Bulldog majolica umbrella stand produced circa 1900. Wearing a collar, this loveable bulldog is obviously someone's treasured pet. He is sitting patiently waiting for dinner to be served. Note the collar say "Cie Française des Timbres Rabais", a reference to discount stamps.
The bulldog can also be found with "Faiencerie Wasmuel" on the collar. The Bulldog umbrella stand was designed by Wasmuel's principal artist Frederic Thurner.
