Britannia Thatcher toby jug - Lady Grace China 2002

Britannia Thatcher toby jug modeled by Ray Noble and produced by Lady Grace China of Staffordshire, England, in 2002 a limited edition of 500. This toby jug commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Falklands War, a ten-week undeclared war between Argentina and the United Kingdom in 1982 over two British dependent territories in the South Atlantic: the Falkland Islands and its territorial dependencies. Margaret Hilda Thatcher (1925 - 2013) was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She was the first female British prime minister and the longest-serving British prime minister of the 20th century. As prime minister, she implemented economic policies that became known as Thatcherism. A Soviet journalist dubbed her the "Iron Lady", a nickname that became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. Britannia is the national personification of Britain as a helmeted female warrior holding a trident and shield. Her husband Dennis Thatcher forms the handle of the jug.
