Toby on Barrel bottle stoneware - England circa 1830

Toby on Barrel salt glazed stoneware bottle produced in England circa 1830. This Toby is sitting on a barrel of XXX ale and clutching a foaming tankard of ale with both hands in front of him. The back of the bottle is incised "R. Smith White Hart Stowmarket". This one-time coaching inn and post house became a popular and somewhat famous pub and inn during the 1900s. This is an advertising piece for the pub and perhaps R. Smith was the owner/proprietor of the establishment.
