The Juggler character jug tan D6835 trial colorway - Royal Doulton 1989

The Juggler character jug in a tan handle trial colorway modeled by Stanley J. Taylor and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, in 1989. The term juggler derives from the old French verb jogler meaning to perform as a jester. Today's juggler may jest for entertainment, but hours of patience, practice and serious concentration are needed in order to perform his amazing and dexterous tricks. He skillfully tosses, and hopefully catches, a wide variety of items thrown into the air: common balls, skittles and the highly dangerous knives and flaming torches. Although thought of as a circus performer, jugglers can be found on stage, in open air parks or on street corners, plying their skills for however much remuneration they can gather from the enthralled crowds. Skittles and balls form the handle of this jug.
