Queen of Hearts toby jug - Tony Wood Studio 1981

Queen of Hearts toby jug produced by Tony Wood Studio of Fenton, England, in a 1981 limited edition for Perennis and offered on a subscription basis. "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is an 1865 English children's novel by Lewis Carroll. It details the story of a girl named Alice who falls through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world of anthropomorphic creatures. The Queen of Hearts is a childish, foul-tempered monarch whom Carroll himself describes as "a blind fury", and who is quick to give death sentences at even the slightest of offenses. One of her most famous lines is the oft-repeated "Off with their heads!" The Queen is referred to as a card from a pack of playing cards by Alice, yet somehow she is able to talk and is the ruler of the lands in the story, alongside her husband, the King of Hearts. This is one of sixteen toby jug in the Alice in Wonderland Series.
