Olive Oyl character jug - Hamilton Gifts 1990

Olive Oyl character jug produced in Korea by Hamilton Gifts of Newville, Pennsylvania, in 1990. Olive Oyl is a cartoon character created by E. C. Segar in 1919 for his comic strip "Thimble Theatre". The strip was later renamed "Popeye" after the sailor character that became the most popular member of the cast; however, Olive Oyl was a main character for a decade before Popeye's 1929 appearance. Olive was a scrappy, headstrong young woman characterized by her exaggeratedly slim build and long black hair like her mother's. She is the youngest sibling of Castor Oyl and Crude Oyl. The top of Olive Oyl's head is removeable.
