Old Balloon Seller teapot - Royal Doulton 1990-1991

Old Balloon Seller teapot modeled by William K. Harper and produced by Royal Doulton of Burslem, England, between 1990-1991. The Old Balloon Seller could often be found wandering the streets of nineteenth century London selling balloons to passersby. One of many street vendors vying for Londoners' coins, they would shout "Balloons for sale!" at the bustling throng. With their bright array of colors, the balloon street sellers became magnets for every boy and girl, as well as often for their parents. Nothing can compete with the delight of the Victorian street urchin who was fortunate enough to grasp the string of his first balloon handed to him by the Old Balloon Seller. A string of balloons forms the handle of the teapot and a bouquet of flowers forms the spout.
