Napoleon Bonaparte salt glazed stoneware small character jug produced by Stephen Green Imperial Pottery of Lambeth, England, circa 1840. Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) was a French military and political leader who rose to prominence at the end of the French Revolution. He was Emperor of France from 1804 to 1814 and again in 1815. He led France in the Napoleonic Wars seizing control of most of Europe before being defeated at the Battle of Waterloo and exiled to the island of Saint Helena. An Imperial Eagle sits atop the decorated handle of this jug. This jug has the Imperial seal cartouche on the bottom.
