Mouse King toby jug produced in Taiwan by Fitz and Floyd of Medford, Oregon, in 1992. The Mouse King is from the 1892 two-act fairy ballet The Nutcracker set on Christmas Eve at the foot of a Christmas tree in a child's imagination. With music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the plot is an adaptation of E. T. A. Hoffmann's 1816 short story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. The Mouse King, also known as the Rat King, is the main antagonist in the novel and ballet adaptation. He is an oppressive ruler who wishes to rule over a magical kingdom where he comes from. He becomes successful as he transformed the prince into a nutcracker and overthrew him. The prince, however, still rebels against the Mouse King. This Mouse King is riding a hobby horse with his tail forming the handle of the jug.
