Jack toby jug - United States circa 1880

Jack toby jug in a Rockingham finish produced in the United States circa 1880. Wearing a collar with his name on it, Jack the bulldog is someone's loved pet. The Bulldog is a British breed of dog of mastiff type. It is a medium sized, muscular dog with large heads with thick folds of skin around the face and shoulders. While often used as a symbol of ferocity and courage, modern bulldogs are generally friendly, amiable dogs. A rope attached to his collar forms the handle of the jug.
