Hobo character jug produced in Japan by Dave Grossman Designs of St. Louis, Missouri, in 1979. A hobo is a homeless person, tramp or vagrant. He is commonly associated with hitching free rides on-board freight cars on the trains that crisscross the United States. This Hobo appeared in the Norman Rockwell cover art on the October 18, 1924, issue of the "Saturday Evening Post" magazine. A wooden cane forms the handle of the jug.
