Hearty Good Fellow toby jug - Staffordshire Pearlware circa 1810

Hearty Good Fellow made in Staffordshire in Pearlware finish circa 1810. This jug is of a man standing on a rustic mound with a tree trunk at his back and tree branch forming the handle. He commonly holds at jug of ale in his right hand and churchwarden pipe in his left. The Pearlware finish refers to the final clear glazing that contained cobalt and gave a slight blue coloring to glaze that tended to pool between fingers and in the creases in the face.
