Guignol majolica toby jug produced by Poet-Laval of France circa 1905. Appealing to children and adults alike, Guignol is the main character in a French puppet show of the same name. Sharing the same origin as Punch, Guignol was created around 1800 by a dentist as a way to attract more patients. His long hair forms the handle of the jug. This toby jug is known in various colorways.
