Cavalier character jug produced by Enesco of Itasca, Illinois, circa 1980. A cavalier is a mounted soldier or knight. Dating back to King Charles I of England, cavaliers were specially selected men-at-arms serving the king in the English Civil War. A short sword forms the handle of this jug.
