King of Clubs stoneware ash tray modeled by Harry Simeon and produced by Royal Doulton of Lambeth, England, between 1924 and 1929.  The King of Clubs is a full-figured King regally dressed in the finest robes and holding a sword that represents his intellect.  He looks comfortable and self-assured – this King is a powerful leader with many looking up to him for advice.  In early French playing card designs, the King of Clubs was originally Alexander the Great.  Model number 8639 and standing 4" tall, the King of Clubs is part of a set along with the Queen of Spades, Jack of Hearts and Queen of Diamonds.
