Dressed Goat toby jug produced by Sarreguemines of Lorraine, France, circa 1910, model number 4688. The goat is a domesticated species of goat-antelope typically kept as livestock. It was domesticated from the wild goat of Southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. There are over 300 distinct breeds of goat. It is one of the oldest domesticated species of animal.
Goat-herding is an ancient tradition that is still important in places such as Egypt. Goats have been used for milk, meat, fur, and skins across much of the world. This is one of six characters in the series of dressed animals.  The Dressed Goat stands 9 1/2" tall.
